Message from the Principal

Dear Algonquin Road Families,
Welcome to a brand-new school year! For those I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting yet, my name is Rachelle Peters, and I am so honored to be entering my second year as principal at Algonquin Road School.
This year marks my 25th year in education. Before stepping into this position, I spent nine years teaching 4th grade, followed by fourteen years as a middle school assistant principal. I hold a bachelor’s degree in sociology and elementary education from UW-Parkside and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Aurora University.
Outside of school, my favorite place to be is with my family: my husband, Matt, and our three children, Noelle, Landyn, and Hayden. You can often find me outdoors soaking up the sunshine, going on walks with our goldendoodle, Mercedes, or traveling to Tennessee to visit Noelle who recently got engaged!
Building strong relationships with our students, staff, and families is what makes Algonquin Road School such a special place. I am so excited to see our returning students grow, welcome our new families, and celebrate all the incredible moments this year will bring.
Here are a few tips to help your child achieve their full potential:
- Establish a consistent homework routine: Designate a quiet, well-lit space for homework and set a regular time for its completion.
- Encourage reading: Read with your child daily, even for just 15-20 minutes. This helps develop vocabulary, comprehension, and a love of reading.
- Celebrate effort and progress: Focus on your child's hard work and improvement, rather than just grades.
- Communicate with the teacher: Use ParentSquare to stay in regular contact with your child's teacher to discuss their progress, address any concerns, and collaborate on strategies to support their learning.
We believe that by working together, we can create a strong foundation for your child's academic and personal growth. I’m so excited for the opportunity to serve as principal at Algonquin Road School! I can’t wait to get to know all of our amazing students and staff, build strong relationships, and celebrate all the great things happening in our school community. It’s going to be a fantastic year, and I’m truly honored to be part of it! Thank you for your continued partnership, energy, and support. Let’s make this an unforgettable school year!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Peters
